How to Create Worn Painted Metal in KeyShot

In his latest video, Esben Oxholm shows you how to create a worn paint metal material in KeyShot. Esben creates the material using the basic materials and the KeyShot Material Graph, breaking down each step and each node in the process.

Esben starts off showing the individual materials – the metal base material and how the paint material is applied on top. This alone will give you and idea of the direction he’s going and a greater appreciation for the material possibilities.

He then shows you how to add worn edges by applying the Curvature texture as an Opacity map in conjunction with the Color Composite and the Color-to-Number Utility node. In the last few minutes he then shows how to duplicate nodes to make everything look consistent, leaving you with a beautifully worn metal material with wear that can be adjusted quickly to your liking.
