KeyShot Try

Every once in a while it’s good to get away from behind the computer, step outdoors, take in some unsimulated light and even sleep under the stars. SHIFT Design Camp aims to put you exactly in that setting and it’s very cool to see all the students and faculty of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) putting this together for design students and professionals around the nation. SCAD uses KeyShot to train their students how to render up photorealistic images of products they design and we’re proud to join with them in sponsoring this unique event. It is truly a time to refresh your render skills and provide a new passion for design.

SHIFT Design Camp

SHIFT Design Camp is a week long activity that takes you through different exercises with other design students, faculty and professionals. The focus is on exploration, the analog and working with others on discovering solutions without the use of computers. Besides the daily activities and design challenges, there will be plenty of time to get out and hike, swim, explore or network *ding*, so pack a jacket, sleeping bag and perhaps your latest portfolio to join students and professionals for a little refresh. Here are some more details.

When: June 10-15th, 2013
Where: Appalachian foothills of Tuscumbia, AL.
Cost: $55

If you’re interested in gaining a new passion for design, we can’t recommend this event enough. It’s taking place in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of Tuscumbia, Alabama at Seven Springs Lodge. It’s a full week of camping under the stars and team building exercises broken up into three parts–Communication workshops, skill-set development, and design challenges. Here’s more from Owen Foster, Professor at SCAD,

Mornings will include exploring the land and learning about local history with the intent of being used as a foundation for upcoming design challenges. Afternoon activities will focus on skill set development such as collaboration, physics, critical thinking, and craft while delivering the design brief for the upcoming challenge. The design challenge will capstone the day’s events by implementing the knowledge and skills learned through team-centered competitions. This opportunity focuses on bringing professionals and students into a neutral environment to evolve together as colleagues. Through passion and dedication we as a design community can expand the boundaries of design education, ultimately improving the world of tomorrow.

You can register for the event here. There are a limited number of spots, so hop over and plan to show up Monday, June 10th, have a week of intense, outdoor design insight, party Friday night and leave refreshed Saturday morning. Hoping to see you there!
