During PLM World this week, we visited with a lot of customers, seeing some present and share how they used KeyShot to create renderings of their Siemens NX data. Shulttleworth Design Limited was one of these, telling about the process of developing the Adastra Trimaran super yacht design and showing KeyShot visuals along the way. The Adastra may look like a futuristic yacht concept, however, it has already been manufactured and delivered to the customer, having undergone extensive design and development over the past several years. Additional renderings have been produced since we first saw how Shulttleworth Design used KeyShot to render the Adastra and we find out more about where in the process KeyShot was used.
The Adastra Trimaran
The Adastra Trimaran is a 140 foot (42.5 m) long range cruiser capable of 22.5 knots and a range of 4,000 miles at 17 knots. It’s designed for six crew and nine guests. As you can see in the renderings, the styling is superb with many rich details and materials to help communicate the luxurious level of the craft. Lauri Poldre of GrabCAD talked with Orion Shuttleworth, who tells about what went into the design and what software was used.
The 2D plans and profile, and 3D hull are then imported into Siemens NX where we develop a preliminary 3D model. KeyShot rendering package is used at this stage to create photo real images of the concept and to help us further refine the styling…. We carry out further detailed structural analysis for final construction and the completed model is imported back into KeyShot for the final presentation renderings.
