Animation of the Week: Booster Snowboard Tool

by | May 15, 2013 | 0 comments

How do you visualize the functionality of your concept models? A sweet animation rendered in HD and set to Daft Punk is sure to turn a few heads. Roemer Linkers used KeyShot Animation for this school project which explains the working principle of a ‘Booster’ snowboard tool. The modeling is superb, the rendering is fabulous and the animation illustrates the function perfectly.

Animate your tools

The tool animation starts off showing how the various attachments of the tool are stored away, the tool cap twisting off and drivers sliding in. A mix of model and object animations was used, zooming in on the center of the tool to show a cutaway detail and operation of the mechanism. All beautifully thought out. Roemer also added arrows to further illustrate the motion of the tool. The effect was done by rendering the animation with and without the physical arrows, then adding the fade in/out in post.
