At Solid Edge University in May, Siemens and Luxion announced that “KeyShot for Solid Edge” was coming. Siemens has released Solid Edge ST7 and with it “KeyShot for Solid Edge” as the rendering solution allowing Solid Edge users to quickly create visuals of their models. It’s a free addition for all Solid Edge Classic and Premium users and the fastest, easiest way to create amazing images of your Solid Edge data. Here are just a few details on the new capabilities.

How does it Work?

From the Solid Edge interface, Solid Edge users press a single button to send their models into KeyShot where they can begin applying materials and lighting. From here, users can continue to work on their models in Solid Edge pushing all changes over to KeyShot through LiveLinking without loosing any materials or lighting they have applied to their scene.

Is KeyShot included with Solid Edge?

Yes, “KeyShot for Solid Edge” is included with both Solid Edge Classic and Premium. Both applications remain separate. This allows users to continue to refine their designs, while images and animations are rendered in KeyShot. It is a unique approach that provides concurrent modeling and rendering to deliver a more efficient workflow, saving time for designers, engineers and others creating 3D visual content.

What is the KeyShot Plugin for?

For users of Solid Edge Foundation and those already using KeyShot, you can still create visuals with KeyShot by downloading the free Solid Edge plugin. KeyShot versions and add-ons can be purchased here.

Here, Thomas Teger provides an overview of what “KeyShot for Solid Edge” brings to the Solid Edge user.
