Irvine, California, March 12th, 2013 – Luxion, a leading developer of advanced rendering and lighting technology and makers of KeyShot®, the first real time ray tracing and global illumination program, is pleased to announce a completely new level of connectivity between KeyShot 4 and PTC® Creo® 2.0 that will significantly enhance the overall workflow and further integrate the highest quality rendering and animation creation in the product development process.
With the release of KeyShot 4, Luxion has implemented new functionality between KeyShot 4 and PTC Creo 2.0 that allows users to push their design changes directly from the PTC Creo 3D modeling application into KeyShot and have the entire KeyShot scene update automatically. In addition, Luxion has added the ability for Mechanism Animations created within PTC Creo to be directly imported into KeyShot via the free KeyShot plugin for PTC Creo. With the powerful CPU-driven architecture that makes KeyShot the perfect solution for rendering large models created in PTC Creo, this adds a new level of integration into the product design process early prototyping phase, when the final design is being presented, or when sales and marketing images are being produced – a design update is literally just a button push away.
Live Linking
With the KeyShot plugin installed, KeyShot and PTC Creo are connected in a live session. PTC Creo users will be able to make a change to the design at any level–update geometry, add, delete or move components–and send those updates directly to a running session of KeyShot. The scene inside KeyShot will update automatically while maintaining all materials, animation, camera and lighting setup. Optionally, the user can add a new design iteration to the scene rather than updating the existing design.
Mechanism Support
Included with the KeyShot plugin is the ability to transfer PTC Creo Mechanism into KeyShot. Users can create their mechanisms in PTC Creo, or take existing mechanisms, and with the selection of a button on the KeyShot tab, transfer the animation via the .fra animation file directly into KeyShot. The animations can be played back, adjusted in length, or used to create additional animation sequences. Once satisfied with the setup, the user can render out a high quality movie of the animation. View a video of how this works here.
Availability
Live Linking and Animation support is currently available as a core feature in KeyShot 4. The free KeyShot plugin for PTC Creo is available at https://www.keyshot.com/downloads/plugins/. A KeyShot and PTC Creo bundle is available to students and faculty through the PTC Web store. To learn more about KeyShot please visit www.keyshot.com/keyshot/keyshot_for_creo.html.
