The KeyShot crew fills you in with the latest KeyShot tips and tricks, insight into 3D rendering technology and the people creating the coolest visuals across the engineering, product design and entertainment industries.

The F1 in Schools program is a global competition for school age students interested in competing in the design of a Formula One race car. It’s unique for that single reason, but also because it’s one of the only challenges where the students range in age between 9 and 19 and the teams are completely responsible for everything from logo and pit design to funding and manufacturing. The students complete the design, competing in regional, national and World final competitions for the Bernie Ecclestone World Champions Trophy. Luxion has sponsored these competitions over the years and we have the opportunity to see how the students work through their design, using KeyShot along the way in concept visualization, engineering presentation and final imagery. We recently heard from the Formula One team out of Winchester College and how KeyShot helped.

Peter Waters is the Graphic Designer of the six-man Greyhound Formula Team out of Winchester College this year. They’ve been working over the past year on the design, presentation material and pit display for a race car design that went through several iterations. Peter says, “Thanks to KeyShot, we were able to produce one of the best looking pit displays ever with a large focus on the car. I was told by others how KeyShot produces fantastic renders with relatively little effort and I have not been disappointed. People were coming up to us, saying how beautiful our model looked compared to simple SolidWorks renders and we were quick to point out they were created using KeyShot. The Judges also complemented us on our very clear and striking renders that provide a fair part of the engineering mark scheme.”

The team is already working on competing next year with a revolutionary new car design and they’ll be using KeyShot again to create the visuals. You can keep track of their progress on Greyhound Formula One Facebook page.
