Eric Meyer
Horological Concept Designer | Industrial Designer | 3D Visualizer
EM Design is a Swiss creative studio founded by designer Eric Meyer, specializing in high-end product design, 3D visualization, and visual storytelling. The studio develops emotionally engaging objects and photorealistic renderings that combine technical precision with artistic sensitivity.
Inspired by mechanical culture, fine arts, aviation, horology, and kinetic objects, EM Design creates projects that go beyond pure functionality to explore atmosphere, emotion, and narrative. Each creation is approached as a balance between innovation, craftsmanship, and visual impact.
Eric Meyer’s multidisciplinary background in sculpture, painting, and industrial design brings a distinctive perspective to the studio’s creative process. His work is characterized by refined forms, strong attention to detail, and a cinematic approach to lighting, materials, and composition. Throughout his career, Eric has collaborated with internationally renowned brands such as MB&F, L’Epée 1839, Rolex, Swatch Group, Nespresso, and Philips Design. Recent projects include the Belly Tank Racer for L’Epée 1839, presented at Watch and Wonders Geneva, as well as Albatross, a collaboration with MB&F developed and manufactured by L’Epée 1839, awarded the Mechanical Clock Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), and inspired by the visionary worlds of Jules Verne.
Through EM Design, Eric continues to create unique objects and visuals at the intersection of design, engineering, and storytelling.
What was the inspiration for founding your design firm?
I founded EM Design with the desire to develop a more personal and independent approach to design, at the intersection of industrial design, fine arts, and visual storytelling. Inspired by mechanical culture, horology, aviation, and kinetic objects, I have always been drawn to objects capable of telling a story through their forms, materials, and visual presence.
Today, EM Design allows me to explore projects where innovation, experimentation, and artistic sensitivity can coexist freely.
“KeyShot helps me refine the aesthetic details and visual impact of a project even before a physical prototype is produced.”
在设计过程中KeyShot 如何KeyShot 您的工作流程?
KeyShot allows me to quickly explore colors, materials, lighting, and proportions through highly realistic renderings throughout the creative process. It helps me refine the aesthetic details and visual impact of a project even before a physical prototype is produced.
It is also an excellent tool for communicating my ideas to clients and presenting complex concepts in a clear and immersive way through renderings and animations.
使用KeyShot 设计工具,可以避免哪些挑战?
KeyShot helps me avoid many back-and-forth iterations during the development process thanks to highly realistic visualizations from the early stages of design. Clients immediately understand the design intentions, which makes communication and decision-making much easier.
At the moment, I particularly enjoy using the Quick VR tool in KeyShot. It allows me to create immersive presentations where objects can be explored from every angle, which is especially interesting for revealing mechanical details, materials, and proportions in a more interactive and emotional way.
你会给其他设计师什么建议?
I believe it is important to stay curious and explore sources of inspiration beyond design itself. The most interesting objects often emerge from the intersection of art, engineering, culture, and emotion.
I would also encourage designers to develop their own visual sensitivity and always strive to create objects capable of telling a story.
