The International KeyShot Conference on 3D Rendering and Interactive Visuals

KeyShot RenderWorld 2018, held on May 21-22, 2018 in Southern California at the Paséa Hotel & Spa, Huntington Beach, is a two-day conference filled with sessions and workshops to stretch your abilities and build your KeyShot expertise.

KeyShot RenderWorld features KeyShot users from companies around the world, as well as technical sessions and hands-on workshops hosted by Luxion’s product and training experts that cover KeyShot workflow, material creation, lighting, animation and much more.

In addition, this event provides plenty of opportunities to network, learn from others, interact and connect with Luxion’s partners to experience products and offerings to take your productivity to the next level.

The event takes place at the Paséa Hotel & Spa, just off the Pacific Coast Highway.

Jeff’s career spans almost four decades in working with some of the top design firms and companies in Silicon Valley. Graduating with an art degree, Jeff’s career started as a model maker in 1980 at Atari, moved into master surfacing and rendering in the early 90’s working at Lunar Design, then joining the Apple ID group, and currently is the head of the Digital Imaging Team for Google Brand and Hardware. His experiences over these years have taught him the high value and power of visualization, starting at the early stages of product development, and how to leverage those assets thru to packaging and marketing of products.

Jennifer Burke is a CAD Training Specialist at KI where she guides Designers and Engineers on product space planning, company processes and renderings. Jennifer started her career at KI shortly after graduating from ITT with an Associate Degree in Drafting and Design and has been with the company for 12 years. Jennifer taught herself KeyShot and has learned how to optimize KI’s workflow to get the most benefit from the software. When Jennifer isn’t using KeyShot, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their new puppy. Travelling for work and pleasure are a close second.

Henrik Wann Jensen is the Chief Scientist at Luxion, makers of KeyShot, and professor at the Computer Graphics Laboratory at the University of California at San Diego. His research is focused on realistic image synthesis, global illumination, rendering of natural phenomena, and appearance modelling. His contributions to computer graphics include the photon mapping algorithm for global illumination, and the first technique for efficiently simulating subsurface scattering in translucent materials. He is the author of “Realistic Image Synthesis using Photon Mapping,” AK Peters 2001.

He has rendered images that have appeared on the covers of the National Geographic Magazine and the SIGGRAPH proceedings. He previously worked at Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Weta, Pixar, and at mental images. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technical University of Denmark. He is the recipient of an Academy Award (Technical Achievement Award) from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for pioneering research in rendering translucent materials. He also received a Sloan Fellowship, and was selected as one of the top 10 scientists by Popular Science magazine.

Benny Lee is in charge of 3D design at The Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, Georgia. As a graduate from The Georgia Institute of Technology, with a degree in industrial design, he has worked on lifestyle accessories and film projects prior to Coca-Cola. For the past four years he has worked on consumer facing products for the Coca-Cola Freestyle team, retail space design, as well as 3D workflow that accelerates the product to market process within the design department.

David Merz is the Senior Designer of Visualization at Armstrong-White Chicago. As self-proclaimed Keyshot’s biggest fan since 2014, he leverages his experience as a photographer, graphic designer, and visualization artist to create photo-realistic assets for clients such as Lenovo, Motorola, Jim Beam, Anheuser Busch Inbev and others. His product visualization workflow promotes a combination of ‘thinking like a photographer’ and brand-centric strategy. He believes Keyshot is the foundation for creating a high-quantity of assets while being able to maintain a high degree of quality and consistency resulting in undeniable value for his clients over traditional means. Aside from CG, he can talk all day about hockey, coffee, cooking, camping, biking, ping-pong, and foosball.

Jesper Mosegaard is Director of Products at Luxion, leading the software developers at Luxion. Jesper also contributes to R&D and is currently working on advancing real-time rendering and virtual reality. He enjoys solving challenges, developing software, and leading great software developers. Computer graphics has a special place in Jespers heart, and he has worked professionally in and around the field for over 15 years. Jesper has a PhD in Computer Science from Aarhus University and has completed an executive education program from Harvard Business School. Before joining Luxion in 2017 he was head of the Visual Computing Lab at the Alexandra Institute and Assistant Professor at Aarhus University.

Esben Oxholm is freelance CG Artist holding a bachelor in product design engineering and a master in lighting design. He has been using KeyShot for 5+ years and it is his main tool for creating images and animations for small local as well as large international product design companies. Besides creating visualizations himself, he also helps other to step up their KeyShot game. This happens through free tutorials and source files online and through on-site training at companies and design schools.

Justin Schlothauer has been part of the design and engineering team at Under Armour for over a decade where he has seen both the growth of the company worldwide and leads the transition of their visualization workflow. He is a 3D nut with extensive knowledge in the industry in the areas of Rendering, Modeling, 3D printing, Strategy and Training. Justin loves his family, sports, technology and drums. At Fitbit, Justin leads the visualization of product imagery, from early-stage concepts to final consumer-facing marketing materials across web, print, and packaging. As a CG artist over the last two decades Justin’s work spans broadcast graphics for television, visual effects for film and commercials, and product visualization. His range of work has included designing live concert visuals for Madonna, animating promos, from Powerpuff Girls to Pokemon, for “Kids’ WB!” and launching the PS4 on a 4-story tall screen at E3. He is a graduate of Art Center College of Design. When he’s not in front of a screen, he puts his DSLR to work shooting time-lapse photography, and fires up the stovetop to perfect his homemade Swedish glögg recipe.

Tim Zarki is a passionate designer from Southern California, with a BSDES in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. He is currently the Design and Advanced Visualization Lead for MNML in San Francisco, where he brings a broad set of skills and passions to his work. Tim has done projects within the realms of industrial design, 3D concept design, motion design, graphic design, UI/UX design, generative design, and web design. He devotes much of his time to broadening his horizons in the design industry, learning new tools, mastering old ones, and exploring disciplines outside his comfort zone.
