Geometry Error / Crash when importing STEP file into KS3
« on: September 26, 2013, 07:05:54 am »
I'd really appreciate any feedback on this issue.  I've promised to deliver several product renderings and suddenly find myself unable to finish the job.  Lately I have been getting this error message more and more often when trying to import STEP files into KS3:

Hi Pedro,

Are you using the lastest version of KS3 (3.3.33)? Also, would you be able to send the STEP file to support@luxion.com? If so, please use https://keyshot.wetransfer.com?

Thanks,
Chad

Yes, I am using 3.3.33.
Unfortunately I'm prevented from sharing the file due to legal agreements.  I was rather hoping this was a known error with a known solution.  :-\

Just to add a little info; I use Inventor 2013, then export as a STEP file because 3.3.33 won't open my native Inventor files without causing problems.  (certain parts will open as giant spheres.)  The STEP files had been opening just fine for more than a year, until last week, when this error started.

Holy crap it just opened.  :o

I didn't change anything.  It just opened.  I'm curious as to why, but I don't really have time to delve into it at the moment.

When I am done I will try and create a non-proprietary model that will replecate the error, so that I can share it with you.

Thanks for the fast response, Chad.

Not sure why that is happening.  :-\
Yes, if you ever have a moment, please share a file with this issue.

Thanks,
Chad
