RealCloth: How to implement pique knit fabric?
« on: November 16, 2019, 01:05:38 am »
In Keyshot 9, I see new material: RealCloth

But there's only woven fabric. How can I design a pique knit fabric like this picture:

For now, RealCloth is exclusively for woven fabrics.

We will continue to work on the material and expand the range of materials supported.

thanks!

would be awesome to have some kind of roving fabric (parallel laid fibers a/o filaments without weaving), they are often used in in industrie e.g. for reinforcement

btw: is it possible to have to have more than one layer of fabric, where one could look through the first one and see the layer below?
If so how to set it up the best way?

For more layers (I guess) you should offset the geometry and use different materials. Or you can duplicate the part and use displacement with a pure white vertex color node to get the offset (as shown in the attached example). But beware of the limitations depending on the geometry. Displacement can add weird geometry on hard edges or tiny wrinkle like shapes.

Hope that helps

Cheers
