Wish List / Velocity or Motion Vector Pass

This is a special request, but this pass is so crucial to create nice and cheap motion blur in post.
If I render an animation with motion blur, it becomes almost impossible to separate objects from the background using the clown pass for color adjustments or other post production effects. A velocity pass would add the possibility to create a believable motion blur in compositing applications and save tons of render time. 

Materials / Manga/comic material , Specular instead diffuse?

Hi all,
As part of a job, a comic book project , I'm still looking for a manga style material. As many others I think ^^ I would want an artistic direction very close to manga we all use to see , or something totally different , as BLAME! or theses kind of things.

Applying a toon material on a simple mesh is cool, but it simply draws line on each part of the mesh :

What I would want is keeping somes details on textures, close to the diffuse channel.

And yesterday, by mistake , I put the specular channel instead of the diffuse one. And , for now, I don't k,now how to improve it , but the result looks really close to what I want :

Sure, if I post-prod the 2 pics on photoshop, it gives something reaaaallly cool, very arty , very special:

So, you doubt my question ... Is there a way to desature the diffuse channel, to modify its contrast to obtain a similar result ?

I'm asking for a simple reason : lazyness. "lol".

If not, I have to modify all the diffuses on toshop, and replace the files to make keyshot understanding it has to use the new spec textures, of put the spec texture in the diffuse channel manually.

You can understand that , having a big city modelized , I will not have fun at replacing all the materials...

What I would want to learn , if that's possible hu , is a complex node system inside de material tab , to modify all my textures magically huhu.

Seriously , you see what I mean ? I'm french , and my english is a bit rusty ...

Yes! That's the idea! I will put on a studio.

For the creation of the cymbals, I was inspired by the Zildjian cymbals.
In my opinion, the best there are.

Hi all, I started with the "classic" singer model by Szymon Z. I have been building around it adding all of the DLS features. So... bumpers, fenders, flares, roof, spoiler, exhaust, mirrors, windshield,side and rear windows, wheels, etc. And I also have a start on the interior, roll bar, door cards, steering wheel, tachometer. I do all of my model work in nurbs.

For the white rim issue try the "Matte Chocker" effect in AE - it may help. But if your brain is AE free now, go for Blackmagic Fusion Studio - you'll love the node based workflow in compositing. I do lot of my PS jobs in Fusion.  ;D

it seems I tend to make my life harder than necessary  ;D
we did still renderings for many years, the call for animated clips is just about to catch on without us pushing it ...
I guess, we have to dig way deeper into editing ....

hello guys,
thanks a bunch for the fast response.
we do have After Effects and Premiere, but as I mentioned animation is not one of my strong assets, so is AE.
I was assuming, it might be a job for AE, but I would have to dig into this, as I wouldn´t know, where to start...
so, composing the background and the KS scene (Alpha) in AE you do not see as a problem?
I am a bit concerned, that I might end up having a small bright rim around the product like what you sometimes have in Photoshop, but at least there I would know how to handle it ...
I will give it a try for sure...!!
