Here's a worm gear.
Make it look sexy.
Make it look old and used.
Make it look illustrative.
Make it look whatever you want.

You have two hours.
Please go to the following thread for the entire set of rules:

Here is the break down:
- 1:30 for setting the blueprint graphic (Solidworks Drawing > PDF > Photoshop)
- 25 minutes of KS5. Since not much time left, I have to sacrifice the HDRI lighting and material texture.  :P

Hope you like it.

OK, so, i saw this post yesterday night. I started playing with it after midnight and after one hour, the render in KS was done (i've done everything in KS, importing the Solid assembly and setting the meshing at a lower rate, then just used the array tool, that pretty still sucks, but is not bad either :D ).

Then sleepy time suddenly came.

With the render on the hdd, i went sleeping. After a long day + a great movie, i came back, and i did the post in Fusion and PS. Kind of happy, but not fully satisfied :)

Total time, 1:40 hours, this divided:

Keyshot: 1 hour (including 15 minutes of render)
Post-Fusion: 25 Minutes
Post-PS: 15 Minutes

Hope you guys like it!! :D

Here is my 2nd render:
- 0:20 = creating oil stain and scratch mark using Photoshop
- 1:10 = render by KS5, spend a lot of time placing oil stain at the right spot
- 0:05 = Photoshop for blurring background

Using standard bump & standard HDRI from Luxion.

Regards,
Bronson

I wouldn't :)
To me it depends on a lot of factors. Briex's entry is pretty cool looking, but it doesn't tell me much about the object.
I think the way bronson did the blueprints, and placed the object on top of it is pretty nice as well.

Best regards.

Cool entries to start, would be great to see a few more. I'm hoping to have a whack at it myself tonight. Cheers all!
